Go outside and smell the grass, and maybe run a little

These days everyone seems to be looking at their screens all the time. And it doesn’t even matter which screen we’re talking about, it can be your TV, your phone, your tablet, your laptop, or maybe even your smart watch. While many of these things are a necessary part of life for many of us, let’s be honest, we could all limit our usage of those screeny devices a lot if we really wanted to. And we should want to do that.

Your TV

I know many of you have been thinking about it for ages now – do you really need a TV? Or if you do, do you really need to watch it so much? Do you really need to tune in at a certain time every day to watch X factor? Or do you really need to see this or that TV series? Yes, they might be good. Yes, that’s true. But why not try to make your own life more interesting instead of watching the lives of others playing on the TV?

Let’s be honest, we could all limit our usage of those screeny devices a lot if we really wanted to.

Your laptop

While your laptop might be an important part of your work life, you don’t really need it for much more else. Yes, you can also use it to play lottery online or sometimes even play a computer game, but other than that, you don’t need to keep it in front of you at all times. And don’t tell me Instagram and Facebook and…and…are what are really important for you. Unless they are your job, they are far from being necessary. Neither do you need to watch TV series and movies with it. Yes, you can, but do you really need to do it? Couldn’t you spend that time better?

Your phone

Considering your phone can these days be used for pretty much all of the same things as your laptop, you should use your phone a little as possible as well. What would happen if you really only used it for calling?

Your smart watch and alike

The thing is that your smart watch is not smart. Do you really need to know your step count? If you still feel the need to count them, obviously you haven’t walked enough! If you feel the need to keep track of your sleeping patterns, obviously you don’t sleep well enough. And you don’t need to text with your smart watch. You don’t need to get all the notifications it offers. You don’t need yet another camera. You simply don’t need it.

Now that you have removed the over-usage of the electronics from your life, it’s time to go outside, it’s time to walk, it’s time to smell the grass and go do some exercise outside. Or have a beer with your friends. Without your phone.
